So here we are, December with its festive spirit has begun in full swing. Feeling the cold and delighted at the thought of the upcoming festive season. The first snowflakes are longed for and we can’t help but enjoy the magic of Christmas by listening to songs and enjoying some “cocooning” moments in the comfort of our own home.
It’s the perfect time for us to enjoy a few classics again – Christmas cookies, spiced teas and the famous hot chocolate that everyone loves.
How do you like your hot chocolate? Spiced up and brown in colour? White chocolate? With a little bit of whipped cream on top?
Today, I would like to share with you a recipe which will be the “base” on which you will be able to add a lot of tasty ingredients according to your desires.
Nutritious Hot Chocolate
You may ask, “how can it be nutritious?” Well, in my recipe, I avoid using refined sugar! I replace it with unrefined sugar for even more flavour and to give it a healthier touch than the blends that are sometimes found in supermarkets.
For my recipe, I also use a raw cocoa base in order to fill up with good minerals and to obtain a high quality result. At the moment, this hot chocolate is my little boy’s favourite recipe. You can even make a vegan version of the recipe by replacing cow’s milk with a plant-based drink such as almond milk or oat milk (my two favourites!) And when I want to vary the flavours a little, I don’t hesitate to add a little bit of cinnamon, nutmeg or even vanilla.
My guests also love this homemade recipe, which can be prepared in advance and kept in a glass jar. That way, in any circumstances, you’ll never fail to impress your friends!
A delicious drink to be enjoyed in winter. Hot chocolate is a must that needs to be updated as a “healthy” version.
- 500 ml milk or plant-based alternative
- 2 tsp raw cocoa powder
- 2 tsp unrefined sugar
- Heat the milk (if you want to make froth, use the nozzle of your coffee machine).
- Mix the dry ingredients and place them in the bottom of your 2 cups.
- Pour in the hot milk, stir. If desired, add a little bit of cinnamon or cocoa powder to decorate. It's ready to drink!
