A light dinner for a peaceful sleep

Posted on 2 min read

In the evening, it is recommended to eat light. It has been proven that eating a light and balanced meal 2 to 3 hours before bedtime gives us a more peaceful and therefore a better sleep. Who wouldn’t want to?

You are then face to face with your (almost empty) fridge telling yourself that a slice of ham, cheese and an apple is not so bad… It’s light, yes, but neither balanced nor healthy. And the pleasure of eating in all this? It is perfectly possible to treat yourself, to eat healthy and light and to be perfectly satiated.

The key ingredient

There is an ingredient that we often forget that is nourishing and full of good things for our bodies. It’s the fish!

There are many different kinds of fish, all with a different taste, texture and colour. There is only one rule to follow, and I am adamant about it: to choose it with the sustainable fishing label.

The dish

I suggest a dish based on sea bream and tarragon that you can serve with steamed potatoes or a salad. Of course, it can also be prepared with other fish and aromatic herbs such as tuna and coriander.

Take some nice sea bream fillets and carefully remove the bones. Pour the juice of 2 limes, sliced spring onions, diced tomatoes and washed tarragon sprigs into a dish. Season the sea bream fillets with salt and pepper and place them in the dish. Cover with a beeswax cloth and set aside in the fridge.

Now you have 2 options: either let the mixture rest for 5 hours, turning the sea bream fillets from time to time and the acidity of the lemon will “cook” them. Or you can prepare your potatoes or salad, set the table and other things while the preparation is resting and then fry the sea bream fillets with the vegetables in a frying pan with a drizzle of olive oil. You can finish the meal with a no-added-sugar yoghurt.

After enjoying this dish, a cup of verbena tea in front of an episode (not 8 in a row!) of your favourite TV show and I guarantee you will sleep like a baby.
