Christmas Eve is just around the corner and you’re still missing presents? No need to panic! We’ll show you three beautiful last-minute gifts that you can conjure up at home in no time at all – have fun!
Homemade hot chocolate set
On cold days, nothing beats a (heart)warming drink. That’s why this homemade hot chocolate set is the ideal last-minute gift.
You need:
- Preserving jar with screw cap
- Label
- small transparent bag for the powder
- gift cord
- 170 g dark chocolate
- 1.5 tsp cornflour
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 pk vanilla sugar
Grate the chocolate, put it in a jar and close it. Mix the cornflour with the spices and put the mixture into a small bag. Close it with a thread and tie it around the closed jar. Now you can write on the label, e.g. “Homemade hot chocolate set” and stick it on the jar – ready!
Our tip: Add a few marshmallows on top of the chocolate in the glass – they give your hot chocolate that little extra and look very nice!
Instructions: Per cup of milk, use approx. 2 tbsp. chocolate chips and 1 tsp. spice mixture and optionally some marshmallows – the homemade hot chocolate is ready!
Homemade herbal salt
Homemade herbal salt is also very quick to make and delicious. It’s suitable for any kitchen, looks great and is prepared with just a few ingredients.
You need:
- 50 ml screw-top jar
- small label (self adhesive)
- gift cord
- 40 g coarse sea salt
- 2 leaves sage (fresh)
- 1 sprig rosemary (fresh)
- 1 tsp chilli flakes
Put the coarse sea salt in a mortar or blender. Add the herbs and blend the ingredients to a fine herbal salt. Then pour the salt mixture into the jar and tie a decorative bow around it with the gift cord. Finally, write your label, e.g. “Rosemary Sage Chilli Salt” and stick it on the jar – done!
There are no limits to your cooking creativity when it comes to homemade herbal salt. Whether it’s lemon salt, spiced salt or salt with lavender – check out what your spice cupboard and herb garden have to offer and make your very own salt mixture!
Homemade pralines
You can also make your own pralines and they make an ideal, delicious gift for Christmas.
You need:
- approx. 120 g butter biscuits (alternatively speculoos, chocolate biscuits etc.)
- 75 g butter
- 30 g icing sugar
- 2 tbsp amaretto
- 200 g dark chocolate
- 2-3 tbsp baking cocoa
First, put the biscuits in the mixer and process them into powder. In the meantime, melt the chocolate in a bain-marie and beat the butter and icing sugar until fluffy. Then add the amaretto, the melted chocolate and the biscuits powder and mix everything into a homogeneous mass. Place the mixture in the fridge for about 30 minutes before shaping into balls and rolling in the baking cocoa.
Now you can wrap the pralines in a bag or a jar and you have a super nice and delicious gift that is sure to go down well!
