Ordering vegan cakes and desserts conveniently online and having them delivered directly to your door – LoLa’s Kitchen is the first Swiss company to make this possible. They deliver for birthdays, weddings, corporate events and individual occasions, to catering establishments and retail companies. And also to your home. In addition, they give workshops and organise events around the topic of vegan cakes. Natalia, Marketing Manager at LoLa’s Kitchen, answered a few questions for us.

What is the mission behind LoLa’s Kitchen? What sets you apart?

LoLa’s Kitchen was founded in 2017 by Alina Russ. Her goal: to offer every person – regardless of lifestyle or allergies or intolerances that make life difficult – the opportunity to enjoy healthy desserts without regret.

LoLa’s Kitchen’s mission is to revolutionise the dessert world and offer a healthier yet delicious alternative for all desserts. We want to make the products accessible to everyone through our eCommerce shop. The cakes are ordered online and delivered directly to mailboxes all over Switzerland.

Where do you see current divides caused by differing diets?

The current dessert world does not offer enough alternatives. Neither for people who lead a conscious and healthy lifestyle, nor for people who cannot find options due to an allergy or intolerance. We do not want to exclude people, but to include them. Thus, with LoLa’s Kitchen, we can make a small but essential contribution by offering something for every person.

Why did you decide to work with Farmy?

Farmy gives us the opportunity to reach and deliver to many more people with these needs. This is because with Farmy, we can provide other people outside our current delivery area with a gluten-free, vegan and sugar-free alternative to conventional desserts like cakes.

What does a working day look like for you?

It varies a lot. We are currently a team of 10 people and each person has their own area. Laura, our head patissière, starts the day very early in the morning, because our bike couriers, Rob, Johanna or Ricky, deliver the orders in the city of Zurich by bike from 9 am.

In marketing, our team is set up in such a way that we can be there for our customers almost around the clock – or at least try to be. In all areas, it can sometimes happen that there is a small night shift. We are a start-up and our working day is not at all comparable to a regular office job. We have so much happening so quickly. As a result, no two days are the same.

Is there anything unique about the production of your products?

All our products are vegan, gluten-free and without refined sugar. This is a composition that opens up a new product field in the sweets sector. It’s important to us to reinterpret products where you can hardly taste any difference to the classics. In this way, we create alternatives and make snacking without regret possible for everyone.

We set the highest quality standards in the selection of our suppliers and raw materials. Highly trained confectioners are at work in the patisserie and this is reflected in the taste of our products.

A special feature of our products is that they can be kept in the freezer for up to 6 months. During this time, they can be defrosted again and again because they contain no animal products.

If you had to recommend one LoLa’s Kitchen product, what would it be?

That’s a very difficult question – tastes are very different. However, our bestsellers include the Salted Caramel Popcorn, the Raspberry Cheesecake, the Chocolate Fudge and the Mango Passionfruit Cheesecake. Whether chocolatey, fruity or a mix – we have something for every taste in our range and cake counter.

Future plans: what is something you still want to realise in the future?

There are many of them. Our goal for this year is to go into nationwide shipping and supply all of Switzerland. Next year, new plans for expansion in Europe are in the pipeline.
