The month of February brings with it the Carnival festivities. It thereby reminds us of how much fun fair food is – a guilty pleasure. Let’s focus on a North American speciality today: the “Funnel Cake”!

Instructions
  1. Whisk together the flour, sugar, salt and baking powder.
  2. Dig a well, add the milk and eggs and whisk until a smooth and homogeneous paste is obtained (the paste should not be too liquid).
  3. Pour the sunflower oil into a high rimmed saucepan and leave to heat.
  4. Place the dough in a piping bag and cut an opening of about ½ cm in diameter with a chisel.
  5. Once the oil is very hot, let the dough flow, forming the shapes of your choice (spirals, abstract shapes, ...).
  6. Remove the "Funnel Cake" from the oil when it has a golden, dark colour on both sides.
  7. Place them on kitchen paper to absorb excess oil.
  8. Dip in fine sugar and leave to cool.
