A chutney is a spicy, sometimes hot or sweet and sour sauce that originates from Indian cuisine. From India to Switzerland, we are cooking a chutney with pears and plums today.
Ingredients
- 2 pears
- 300 g plums
- 50 g ginger
- 70 g sugar
- 50 mL water
- 50 mL apple cidar vinegar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 cloves

Instructions
- Wash and core the plums and pears. Cut the plums in half and the pears into small pieces.
- Wash and peel the ginger and dice very finely.
- Bring the water, plums and pears to the boil in a pot. Then add all the remaining ingredients and simmer over a medium heat for about 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.
- Season again, remove cloves and cinnamon stick, then fill into jars while still hot. Store in the fridge.
